Areas of Focus

Specialties

Therapy at Satya looks beneath the symptom to understand the system underneath it. These are the areas where that work most often takes shape.

Relationships & Attachment

The relationships we form in adulthood often carry patterns that began much earlier.

Therapy can help you understand attachment patterns, recurring relationship dynamics, fear of abandonment, emotional avoidance, difficulty trusting, people-pleasing, boundary struggles, codependency, and the ways you protect yourself when connection feels uncertain.

The goal isn’t to teach you a “right” way to love that looks perfect on paper, but to help you understand and build ways of loving that feel healthier, more secure, and supportive of real connection.

It’s to understand how you’ve learned to relate, and whether those patterns still serve you.

Family & Intergenerational Patterns

Families teach us far more than we realize.

They shape our understanding of responsibility, conflict, love, achievement, gender, obligation, emotion, independence, and belonging.

We work with clients navigating parentification, enmeshment, family conflict, guilt, cultural expectations, difficult parent-child relationships, intergenerational trauma, and the process of developing an adult identity while remaining connected to family.

Trauma & Emotional Abuse

Trauma isn’t defined only by what happened.

It can also live in what your mind and body learned they needed to do afterward.

Therapy may address childhood trauma, relational trauma, narcissistic or emotional abuse, PTSD, chronic invalidation, difficult family systems, and the patterns that can remain long after an unsafe experience or relationship has ended.

Neurodivergence

ADHD, Autism, AuDHD, and other forms of neurodivergence can affect far more than attention or productivity.

They can influence relationships, emotional regulation, sensory needs, executive functioning, identity, self-esteem, routines, burnout, and the way a person experiences the world.

For many clients, especially people of color and those navigating multiple cultural identities, neurodivergence may not always present in ways that align with traditional or Western clinical descriptions. It can be shaped, masked, or misunderstood within environments where adaptation, survival, and cultural expectations have required individuals to develop different ways of coping, communicating, or appearing “high functioning.”

In these cases, neurodivergence is often overlooked, misattributed, or expressed through patterns that are more relational, emotional, or somatic in nature rather than strictly behavioral or academic.

Our work emphasizes understanding the full context of your lived experience rather than relying on narrow definitions of functioning. We move at a pace that allows for curiosity, clarity, and unmasking where appropriate, while honoring the cultural and personal adaptations that have helped you navigate your world.

The goal is not to fit you into a category, but to understand how your mind and nervous system actually work, and what kinds of support allow you to thrive as you are.

Anxiety, OCD & Emotional Regulation

Anxiety can show up as more than worry.

It can look like perfectionism, reassurance-seeking, overthinking, avoidance, control, intrusive thoughts, difficulty tolerating uncertainty, or feeling responsible for preventing anything from going wrong.

We work to understand both the thought patterns and nervous-system responses maintaining anxiety while building greater tolerance for uncertainty, emotion, and discomfort.

Culture, Identity & Belonging

Sometimes distress exists at the intersection between who you are and who you’ve learned you’re supposed to be.

Therapy can provide space to explore cultural identity, immigration and intergenerational experiences, bicultural identity, family expectations, race, sexuality, gender, relationships, marriage, achievement, and belonging.

You don’t have to choose between honoring where you come from and understanding what you need.

We can make room for both.

Not sure where you fit? That’s okay. Let’s figure it out together.
