In Sanskrit, Satya is a word that refers to ‘being truthful in one’s thoughts, speech, and actions’. It highlights the importance of being at peace with our present reality through gently processing events in our past and future. At Satya Counseling & Psychotherapy, helping you find your essential truth in order to live your most authentic life is of the highest importance.
Hi, there! I’m Nikita Bendre and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate based in Houston, Texas. I graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and then from the University of Houston-Victoria with my Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Satya Counseling & Psychotherapy is the culmination of my passion for mental health care and the desire to bring it to communities all over Texas.
I work with children, adolescents, and adults struggling with life transitions, anxiety, depression, work/life issues as well as other mental health concerns. While I work with all populations, my niche is centered around processing the experiences of people of color including generational trauma, childhood experiences, and general acculturation. As a South Asian woman, growing up mental health wellness was hardly mentioned, let alone taken care of in our community. I’ve dedicated my career to advocating for and providing POC communities with accessible and relevant mental health care resources.
I believe that every individual has a unique story and perspective and I find myself immensely privileged to be able to hear the experiences my clients have to share. I know that in working together, we can overcome any obstacle and achieve your goals for therapy!
When I am not in session, I enjoy exploring new restaurants, traveling, snuggling up with a book, and enjoying quality time with my husband and two dogs!
I am being clinically supervised by Dr. Katherine Bacon, LPC-S License No. 20032
Therapy should be a safe place for you to explore your experiences, connections, and reality. I use an integrated approach to counseling, which means that I am trained in multiple evidence-based treatment modalities. What I use depends on what each particular client needs in order to ensure they are getting the specialized care and attention they deserve. The heart of my counseling contains unconditional positive regard and a theoretical foundation that integrates cognitive behavioral therapy with a person-centered approach.
